The Dallas Cowboys managed to redeem themselves by securing their fourth victory of the season against the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night. Quarterback Dak Prescott completed 21 of 30 passes for 272 yards and secured one touchdown with a 109.3 QB rating. However, the improved performance failed to sway the hearts of the demanding social media users.

Their argument is plain and simple. Prescott failed to deliver when it mattered the most against the San Francisco 49ers. He barely managed to scratch the 150-yard mark and failed to record any touchdowns. But the part that stung the most was the picks. Before stepping onto the Levi’s Stadium turf, Prescott had only thrown one entire season. In that game alone, he conceded 3.

Even though the Cowboys won the game and Prescott was leading from the front, he even carried the ball the furthest he has ever had to score a touchdown; it wasn’t enough. Rather, both teams’ defenses dominated the game.

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was playing through a fractured middle finger on his non-throwing hand. Austin Ekeler returned after a lengthy spell out through injury and managed to cover some ground early on but to no avail.

Herbert finished the day with similar numbers to Prescott. He completed 22 passes from 37 for 227 yards, threw two touchdowns, and was picked once. Social media points out that LA lost the game because Herbert’s night was worse than that of the 30-year-old.

Some of them argued that if the defense did not do its job, then Dak Prescott’s numbers weren’t enough to win if it was against a better team. Not only that, eagle-eyed observers pointed out that the heroics of rookie kicker Brandon Aubrey made the win possible. It was his second successful kick from 39 yards in the dying seconds of the fourth quarter that won Dallas the game.

Prescott has been called out by several analysts time and time again. Most notable is Stephen A. Smith, who doesn’t bear any animosity against him but has always highlighted that when the situation gets tough, Prescott disappears from the game.

After the game, the two-time Pro Bowler called the win over the Chargers a collective effort. Their bye week is scheduled to take place in just a few days, followed by the arrival of the Los Angeles Rams at Arlington.
