Dak Prescott plays for the Dallas Cowboys, the America’s Team. There is a lot of scrutiny that comes with that. He is always under the microscope. After a disappointing 2022 season, in which he threw a league-high 15 interceptions, the online hate towards Prescott has reached a new high.
However, reporter and host of the Nothing But Sports podcast Ashley Baker thinks that the Cowboys’ signal-caller gets unfairly disrespected, especially among other Black QBs such as Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson. In an episode of Redzone In The Lab podcast, Baker suggested that Prescott does not receive the same energy of ‘I wanna see this brother succeed’ as other Black QBs.
“That same energy of wanting him to succeed that you have for Lamar [Jackson], it’s not that same energy for Dak because he doesn’t look like us,” Baker said. After making her statement a bit more clearly on Twitter, a lot of NFL fans blamed the Cowboys for the criticism that Prescott faces.
The Cowboys selected Prescott in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. After a successful rookie season, in which he carried his team to the playoffs after an injury to starting quarterback Tony Romo in the preseason, Prescott has consistently been a solid QB for the Cowboys. Although he has been a good regular season QB, the Super Bowl success has eluded Prescott and the Cowboys. They will hope to cross that hurdle this season.

Can Dak Prescott lead his team to the Super Bowl after a disappointing last season?

The Dallas Cowboys reached the Divisional Round of the playoffs last season. They eventually lost to the San Francisco 49ers. Dak Prescott, the Cowboys’ signal-caller had a disappointing 2022 season. He led the league in picks and had a subpar passer rating of 91.1. Although he only played in 12 games, leading the league in interceptions is not a good look.
There is a lot of doubt over Prescott’s ability to carry his team to the Super Bowl. He hasn’t had a great training camp and was picked off multiple times in a practice session. For the Cowboys to reach Super Bowl LVIII, Prescott has to bounce back and have a great season and this might be his last chance to do so.
Prescott and the Cowboys begin their season against the New York Giants on September 11 and will hope to start the season on a positive note with a win. The Cowboys play their final preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
