Who does not want to appear on TV and star in their show? Dak Prescott does not want to. The Dallas Cowboys signal-caller has passed up on the opportunity to star in the second season of Netflix’s NFL series ‘Quarterback’.
The Peyton Manning-produced show is already massively successful in the USA and Canada. Fans got the chance to see some of their favorite players’ behind-the-scenes lives and their emotional journeys. So when Manning announced that it would be getting another season, speculation on who would be on it began to circulate. Some even put forward names they wanted to see.
When it comes to popular quarterbacks, Dak Prescott comes to mind. The center of ‘America’s Team’ is undoubtedly one of the prime candidates that everyone thought would appear on the hit Netflix show. But the 30-year-old has refused to be part of it, as he believes he already has enough media around him.
“I get enough media,” Prescott told SI on Thursday after finishing the Cowboys’ first day of training camp in Oxnard, California. “This team gets enough coverage.” Well, he is right about the media following the team around.
He was then asked whether he had seen Netflix’s show. “I haven’t seen it; I’m not a TV guy,” the two-time Pro Bowler replied. He even revealed asking Peyton Manning if he would star in the show during his playing days. Prescott did not mention how the former NFL legend responded. Maybe his answer influenced the Cowboys’ signal caller to make his decision.
Dak Prescott ridiculed for turning down chance to appear on Netflix Quarterback
Prescott’s refusal to appear in the Quarterback series has caused a commotion among fans. Several believe he made the correct choice to focus on his game. However, few ridiculed the idea of him being part of the show in the first place.
A section of the fans were hoping to see the Dallas Cowboys appear on HBO’s Hard Knocks as well. There were rumors in the very early stages that the league might shortlist them as one of the candidates. Eventually, they decided the New York Jets would feature on the show.
While there’s a massive difference between the shows, they both show the hard work and struggles of players off the pitch, which the fans don’t get to witness during the matches.
‘Quarterback’ season 1 featured Super Bowl-winning MVP Patrick Mahomes, the Minnesota Vikings Kirk Cousins, and the Philadelphia Eagles (Atlanta Falcons during shooting) Marcus Mariota. It premiered on July 12th, and since then, it has been one of the most-watched shows on Netflix.
