Dak Prescott failed to create momentum as the Dallas Cowboys head into the playoffs. The Washington Commanders did a great job shutting the Cowboys’ offense as they scored only 6 points in the entire game.
Just a few weeks back, the Cowboys were in the race to clinch the No.1 seed in the NFC but failed due to their recurring losses. Their final defeat of the regular season was a humiliating one as they lost 26-6 to the Commanders.
Head coach Mike McCarthy said during the post-game interview that the team played horribly and that he was going to make sure they watch the tapes and rectify any and all faults. They will be flying to Tampa to face the Buccaneers in the Super Wild Card weekend.

Quarterback Dak Prescott had another below-average game that almost mirrored his season-opening stats. He completed just 14 of his 37 passing attempts and threw for 128 yards for one touchdown and one interception compared to his 14/29 passing, 134 passing yards, zero TD, and one INT. This has been a trend with Prescott for the past few years and he has a clear pattern of inconsistency.
Prescott took responsibility for Dallas’ loss on himself during the post-game interview. “Sh—y, not to use the language but it was exactly that,” he said of the offense and added that it was the defense that kept them alive in the game. “But, for offense, just completely not who we are. I don’t think I’ve seen us like that, damn sure not in the last two years. It’s something that, as much as you want to burn the tape and move forward, there’s a lot that we’ve got to learn from. Use this tape,” Prescott continued.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had stated six months back that he believes this team is capable of making it through the playoffs. Dallas has a 12-5 record and their losses were a result of them getting in their own way. Prescott said the boys in the locker room are aware of their shortcomings and are holding themselves responsible. “It starts with myself,” Prescott said. “being accountable for what you put out there, what you did.”
Talking about the career-high 15 interceptions he has thrown this season, he said: “It stinks. I’ve got to get better at it. This won’t continue. I’ve been having to get back up all my life.” Dak Prescott and the Cowboys are currently sitting in the locker room replaying every game they’ve played this season and will try very hard to erase their memories of their shameful defeats by winning against Tom Brady and Tampa Bay, who await them at Raymond James Stadium.
