Ezekiel Elliott has been embroiled in an ongoing drama with Dallas Cowboys since the start of the off-season. It is speculated that the Cowboys have decided to part ways with the RB to maximize their salary cap.
On the other hand, many Cowboys players have shared their desire to play with Elliott despite his turmoil with the team. Although there has been no official confirmation from the team, it is expected that Elliott won’t be a part of the Cowboys in the future.
According to a report from NFL media, the Cowboys have not shown any interest in resigning Elliott and the RB will have to look for his future elsewhere. Interestingly, many of Elliott’s teammates want him to stay with them; however, the management thinks otherwise.
“They’re just not talking about it,” Jane Slater from NFL media reported this week. “When I asked if there would be a situation where they would bring him back, it sounds like the same answer I’ve gotten from a number of teams.”
“It would basically require an injury to one of their (other) running backs. As much as I know, a lot of guys in the locker room would love Ezekiel Elliott to come back, there just doesn’t seem like there’s a lot of smoke here,” he added.
Ezekiel Elliott had a decent run with the Cowboys, where he was selected in the Pro Bowl three times while recording 1000+ yards in each of those seasons.

Ezekiel Elliott’s exit brings massive expectations for Tony Pollard
The Cowboys have decent depth in the RB department and will use all their resources for the expected Super Bowl run this season. However, the No.1 RB for them will be Tony Pollard, who will be franchise tagged in the near future.
Apart from Pollard, the Cowboys also have former Tamba Bay Buccaneer RB Ronald Jones and a few players in reserve, including Malik Davis and Deuce Vaughn.
Ezekiel Elliott’s departure has helped the Cowboys save around $11 million in salary cap and can use it to strengthen other positions in the team. With the team currently complete, they will look to challenge for the conference title and get a Super Bowl appearance under their belt this season.
