Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy fined and set to lose one OTA day in 2023 for physical practices

The Dallas Cowboys’ troubles seem to keep on growing. Despite the NFL season being quite some distance away, the franchise have already been found to have violated league rules.

Mike McCarthy’s side has violated the Collective Bargaining Agreement’s rules governing offseason work for the second consecutive season and will have the same punishment they had last year for the same offence.

The NFL has decided to fine Dallas Cowboys head coach, Mike McCarthy a $100k for his team’s offence. Along with this the franchise will also miss out on a day during the OTAs next season, as they did this year for a similar incident last year.

McCarthy paid a $50k fine last year, as his team was one of the three teams to have found guilty of physical practices during the previous season, while his team was fined a total of $100k.

“I think there were seven to nine plays that we looked at as a group, and frankly, the majority of them involved younger players, so to me it’s a learning experience,” Mike McCarthy had said last summer after the punishment.

“I think like anything in life, if you’re punished for trying to do too much the right way as opposed to not doing enough the right way, I think that’s a healthy experience to learn from.”
