“Massive Setback”: Cowboys WR James Washington suffers gruesome injury during practice, to miss 6-10 weeks at least
James Washington has fractured his foot
The Dallas Cowboys have faced yet another setback this offseason. The team had an amazing receiving core in Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Gallup. However, this time, the team traded Amari Cooper in the offseason and this has led to the team being rather short-handed in the wideouts department. CeeDee Lamb is the primary weapon who is expected to have a breakout season this year and after the most recent event, the pressure on Lamb has just increased more.
James Washington, the team’s newest addition was injured at the team’s training camp. he ran a route and attempted to catch the ball at the endzone, he seemed to have no issues as he ran the route, however, while attempting to catch the ball over Trevon Diggs, he landed rather funny and seemed to end up putting most of the pressure on his right leg.
James Washington is expected to be out for an estimated 6 to 10 weeks
Washington, a former member of the Pittsburgh Steelers has played a total of four seasons in the NFL. He recorded a total of 285 yards in receiving the last season, playing in 15 games. He scored 2 TDs. His best year was in 2019 when he ran for 735 receiving yards and managed to score 3 TDs.
Washington was a valuable addition to the Dallas Cowboys‘ offense. Signed by Dallas to add weapons to the team’s receiving core and to replace Amari Cooper, James caught a total of 114 passes and recorded 11 TDs in his stint with the Steelers. He averaged 14.3 yards per catch. He now faces his biggest challenge as a Cowboy as following the diagnosis, it was reported that he had a fractured foot.
This means James Washington will be out for nearly 6 to 10 weeks as per ESPN. The Cowboys faced another injury scare at practice when Safety Jayron Kearse was unable to walk off the field during practice, he was able to return to the sideline moments after when the team’s medical staff evaluated him.
