It’s nearly been two weeks since the Minnesota Vikings surprisingly released Dalvin Cook in a cost-cutting move. The 27-year-old running back remains a free agent and is looking for a new team to represent. Amidst this, Cook has expressed his desire to play for the Miami Dolphins alongside QB Tua Tagovailoa and WR Tyreek Hill.

“As a running back you look for a certain scheme and I know the scheme that I’m good in, and that’s outside zone, and that’s what the Miami Dolphins run. So it’s like, you know, it’d be a perfect fit. And the roster, like you said, speaks for itself,” said Cook during his recent appearance on Sirius XM’s NFL Radio. “I think that defense is pretty solid to me. Tua [ Tagovailoa ], when he’s out on the field, they got a winning record.”

The 4-time Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook also claimed that it would be fun to play alongside guys that “can stretch the field on the outside” referring to speedy wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

Cook had been an elite rusher for the Vikings in the last few years. He has registered 4 consecutive 1000+ rushing yards seasons and has received 4 straight Pro Bowl nods. But the Vikings believe they can somehow replace that kind of production now they have added a wide receiver to their roster in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Nonetheless, ever since becoming a free agent, Cook has received attention from many teams, including the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Jets, according to multiple reports. Cook would be a massive asset to any team in the league, but the Cowboys and the Jets make the most sense for the explosive running back.

The Dolphins wouldn’t be interested in Dalvin Cook

As previously mentioned, the former Vikings RB Dalvin Cook would be a great asset in the backfield to any team in the league. But the Dolphins, who are loaded on the backfield and offense in general, are highly unlikely to pursue Cook.

The Dolphins currently have four running backs in their depth chart and three of them Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson Jr., and Myles Gaskin are elite talents and would be starting backs in many team’s rosters. They are loaded on that department.

So, unless Cook is willing to lower his expected $10 million-a-year contract, the Dolphins wouldn’t be interested in adding him to their roster. Besides, they still have needs to address at the tight end position and even the offensive line position.
