Just a few days ago, the New York Jets parted ways with their running back Dalvin Cook, following an underwhelming campaign in the ongoing season. Later, Cook cleared the waivers and when it was time for him to sign with a new team, the former Jets RB chose to sign with the Super Bowl contenders Baltimore Ravens.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Cook signed with the Ravens on Thursday and will now have a shot at competing for the Super Bowl. The 28-year-old running back also posted a picture of himself with the Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers on his social media profile.
Cook joined the Jets back in August after the New York-based football team roped in the veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Everyone thought Cook was the final piece in New York’s team that could contend for the Super Bowl glory. But Rodgers got injured in the 2023 season’s first game, ruining Cook’s championship dreams.
Cook played behind Zach Wilson and an abysmal offensive line for the rest of the season. As a result, he struggled a lot and couldn’t help the Jets’ offensive unit.
In 15 games, he registered only 214 rushing yards and 78 receiving yards as he put up the worst campaign of his career. For comparison, in 2022, Cook played for the Minnesota Vikings and registered 1468 scrimmage yards and 10 total touchdowns.
Back in August, Cook signed a one-year $7 million deal with the Jets after getting released by the Vikings despite his 4 consecutive Pro Bowl campaigns. And now, with 1 game still left in the Jets’ 2023 campaign, they have moved on from him. He got paid $6.8 million by the Jets and now he will have a shot at competing for the championship under MVP frontrunner Lamar Jackson.
Social media reacts to Dalvin Cook signing with the Ravens
NFL fans on social media had mixed reactions to the 27-year-old running back Dalvin Cook signing with the Ravens on Thursday. He will play with the Ravens during the postseason.
Some fans believe Cook is blatantly ring-chasing, which is not necessarily a bad thing. While others believe Cook will not add any value to the already strong Ravens squad. Check out some of the reactions attached below.
Nonetheless, the Ravens have really strengthened their squad with the addition of Dalvin Cook. They have already secured AFC’s No.1 seed. So, they might not let Cook play in their final regular season game.
Furthermore, they also have a bye week during the wildcard weekend. Therefore, the talented running back has a lot of time to prepare for a championship run with the Baltimore-based football team.
