The world of sports is a scary and unpredictable one. While it comes with great moments and unites people from different cultural backgrounds and nationalities for celebrations, there are times that it unites people in moments of grief. Today, the latter has happened after the news emerged that Bronny James, son of NBA star LeBron James suffered a cardiac arrest while practising at the University of Southern California.

Bronny James was in the middle of practice when the incident took place, LeBron James and his family released this statement following the incident, “Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest. Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU. We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will updated media when there is more information.”

The statement goes on to elaborate, “LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes.” In light of this incident, Damar Hamlin, the safety for the Buffalo Bills was one of the first athletes to convey his support for the James family in light of this scary incident.

Damar Hamlin took to Twitter to post the following message, “Prayers to Bronny and The James family as well. Here for you guys just like you have been for me my entire process.” The safety knows the impact that a cardiac arrest can have not just on the athlete but also on his family.

Earlier in January, when the Buffalo Bills faced off against the Cincinnati Bengals, Damar Hamlin made a tackle on wideout Tee Higgins which led him to collapse onto the ground. While he did manage to get up on his feet and take two steps, he ended up falling right back down. He immediately went into cardiac arrest and after being administered CPR for a while, his heartbeat was revived, he was then rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he remained in critical condition for a while. LeBron James was among one of the athletes who showed immense support to Damar Hamlin and his family while they were going through this.

Bronny James is just 18 years of age and has arguably the most active and healthiest lifestyle in comparison to other individuals in his age group. Hearing that he is going through this makes it as much scary and not to mention what LeBron and Savannah James are going through at this moment. Bronny is now stable and hopefully makes a quick and speedy recovery at the earliest.
