Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs can’t seem to escape the allegations! The Chiefs have been the center of a conspiracy theory that the league is rigged in favor of Mahomes and the Kansas City-based franchise for quite a while.
The conspiracy theory was fueled by many inconsistent calls by referees in recent games. And now, an opposing player making a bizarre decision to not tackle Mahomes in the Chiefs’ week 6 game against the Denver Broncos once again leads to theories of the NFL being rigged in their favor.
During the Chiefs-Broncos week 6 game, the Broncos defensive back Damarri Mathis had an open lane to tackle Kansas City’s quarterback Patrick Mahomes. However, he made a questionable decision to attack Mahomes’ lead blocker Jerick McKinnon instead. As a result, Mahomes freely rushed for a few more yards before stepping out of the sideline.
Now that is just horrible decision-making by the Broncos’ cornerback Damarri Mathis. But fans on social media brewed some conspiracy theories about how the league is rigged in Mahomes’ favor.
During the off-season, the conspiracy theory that the NFL is scripted was so viral even the league made fun of such horrendous claims in a scripted video. But now, people have shifted from scripted narrations and are making claims about how the NFL is rigged.
Nonetheless, the Chiefs secured a hard-fought 19-8 win against the Denver-based football team on Thursday night. The Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce had a remarkable day on the field in front of his rumored girlfriend Taylor Swift. Kelce caught 9 passes for 124 yards while averaging 13.8 yards per reception. With the victory against the Broncos, Mahomes and the Chiefs improved to 5-1 and are currently on top of the race for AFC No.1 seeding.
