Damon Arnette recently claimed he was leaving for Dallas to discuss a contract with the Dallas Cowboys. If the Cowboys give Arnette a second shot in the NFL, then he will grab it with open arms. The former Las Vegas Raiders cornerback recently resolved his felony 2022 gun case by pleading guilty to two misdemeanors.
“If I’m blessed enough to get another chance, I’m going to kill that,” Arnette revealed to the reporters outside of a Nevada courtroom on Monday. “I’m remorseful about everything. I appreciate and respect another opportunity.” The 26-year-old was the Las Vegas Raiders’ first-round draft pick in 2020, and after failed stints at Kansas and Miami, he hopes that Jerry Jones will give him an opportunity.
A video surfaced showcasing a confrontation between Damon Arnette and Las Vegas Strip casino valets over a parking receipt in January 2022. Moreover, a previous allegation of a concealed gun, three months prior was already looming on Arnette’s head. The Las Vegas police arrested him on suspicion of gun offenses.
Clark County District Court Judge Ronald Israel approved Damon Arnette’s plea offer. He decreed that the former Ohio State graduate could not carry a gun and sentenced Arnette to 50 hours of community service, including $2,000 in fines. He would also have to stay out of trouble for 90 days. Arnette will face up to one year of jail time if he violates the order, according to Kenn Ritter of the Associated Press.
Social media outrage after Damon Arnette wants a second chance at the Dallas Cowboys
Fans are not happy to hear Damon Arnette is flying to Dallas for contract talks with the Dallas Cowboys. They ridicule the idea of an alleged offender being part of America’s team.
The Dallas Cowboys have one of the best defenses in the NFL. Under coach Dan Quinn, they managed to be the leaders in defensive takeaways the last two seasons. They have one of the best cornerbacks in the league, Trevon Diggs. While the other side may pose a challenge, the addition of Stephon Gilmore should help on that front. Otherwise, the ever-explosive Micah Parsons is the star of the show.
Moreover, there’s a growing excitement surrounding second-year CB DaRon Bland, who could challenge for some game time. Besides, Jourdan Lewis is still around and looks to have recovered from his foot injury. However, according to Sports Illustrated, there are calls for the release of the 2017 third-round draft pick. This may save the Dallas Cowboys around $4.7 million. Is Damon Arnette aware of this development? It’s not impossible, as he heads to Dallas.
