The 2023 NFL Draft is right around the corner. The Carolina Panthers made a huge move to acquire the first overall pick from the Chicago Bears. The Panthers are expected to select a QB in the first round but reportedly haven’t decided which player to draft. Amidst this, the former Detroit Lions QB Dan Orlovsky makes a case for the Panthers to draft Bryce Young while claiming he is a combination of Joe Burrow and Stephen Curry.
Last month, the Carolina Panthers shocked everyone by acquiring the first overall pick from the Chicago Bears via a trade. The Carolina-based franchise gave up a lot including their star wide receiver D.J. Moore to get the number 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The have been several reports suggesting that the Panthers have not made a decision on which player to draft yet.
According to reports, the franchise is torn between Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, and Anthony Richardson. The Alabama QB is currently the favorite but his size is a cause of concern for the Panthers. Young is listed at 5’10” and 190 pounds, not an ideal size for an NFL quarterback. But the talent is certainly there and Carolina doesn’t want to be the franchise that missed out on him.
Dan Orlovsky claims Bryce Young is Stephen Curry plus Joe Burrow combined
While the Carolina Panthers are still exploring the options to draft with their No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky suggests the Panthers’ front office select Bryce Young.
“If you’re Carolina, you take Bryce Young… He’s the best since Joe Burrow. Bryce is the combination of Steph Curry where everything that is wrapped around him is moving fast, but it doesn’t to him. Plus, like Joe Burrow, he doesn’t panic with the football. That’s the difference between him and all the other kids in this class,” said Orlovsky during a recent episode of the ESPN show Get Up.
While Bryce Young certainly is the most talented QB in the 2023 NFL Draft class, the Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud is just as talented as Young and also has the build of the prototypical NFL quarterback.
But the Panthers are reportedly not that high on C.J. Stroud and instead, they have their eyes on the Florida Gators QB Anthony Richardson due to his remarkable athleticism. Scott Fitterer would be making a mistake if they draft Richardson over Stroud or Young especially since they have given up a lot to be in this position.
