The Dallas Cowboys have achieved their post-season form earlier this season. The team started off the season with two straight victories before losing to the Arizona Cardinals. They redeemed themselves in the following week as they beat the New England Patriots, however, nobody could have predicted the 42-10 blowout that the San Francisco 49ers administered upon the Cowboys in Week 4.

While the Dallas Cowboys have their defense to brag about, their offense remains underwhelming and inconsistent. Wideout CeeDee Lamb, whom the Cowboys believe to be a key piece in the team’s quest for a chance to win the Super Bowl had 4 receptions and managed to garner 49 yards without any trips to the redzone. In light of Lamb’s mediocre performance this season, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky believes the Dallas Cowboys have failed to make the most out of their WR1.

Here’s what Orlovsky had to say on Get Up regarding the Dallas Cowboys offense, “If you’re not going to use CeeDee Lamb as a number 1 wide receiver, trade him. Why did you take him in the first round? I’m not telling everybody that this guy is a Stefon Diggs or Ja’Marr Chase, but let’s use him in that aspect.” The analyst was critical of the manner in which the Cowboys offensive coordinators have utilized Lamb this season.

CeeDee Lamb could be the answer to the offensive struggles of the Dallas Cowboys

Dan Orlovsky acknowledges that while Lamb is not on the same level as Stefon Diggs of the Buffalo Bills or Ja’Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals, the Dallas Cowboys can greatly benefit from giving him more targets. Dan goes on to add, “Move him around, let’s make sure he’s getting touches, let’s create matchups for him. Because if you are not going to do that, there is no point in having him on your football team.”

The analyst believes that the Dallas Cowboys are better off trading CeeDee Lamb in exchange for other key pieces. Here’s what Dan believes should be the focus of the Cowboys in order to improve their offense. He said, “First of all, we have to start with making sure that we treat him or try to get him the ball as a number 1 wide receiver. Number 2, the spacing and the detail to the pass game are awful, that has to get fixed.

Dan is of the opinion that the Cowboys offense needs to move CeeDee Lamb around more. While Lamb is undoubtedly the WR1 for the team, he has not been treated like that as he does not get enough targets. “It sounds like (Dallas Cowboys) you want ball distribution offense…You can’t do ball distribution offense standing stillget the ball to CeeDee Lamb, they got to move people on offense if they are going to be ball distribution centric.” He concludes by laying emphasis on the fact that Dallas needs to move its offensive pieces around in a better manner and strengthen their pass-game.

The Dallas Cowboys will face the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football. The team will look to regroup and get a victory following their embarrassing loss to the San Francisco 49ers earlier this week.
