The NFL MVP is tailor-made for the quarterback. It’s easy to come to that conclusion when the last 10 winners of the title are quarterbacks. But there’s always the debate: if the position does not exist, then which player is the next best fit for the accolade? To Dan Orlovsky, that honor should go to none other than Tyreek Hill.

In a recent segment of ESPN’s Get Up, host Mike Greenberg asked his colleagues on the show to put forward the names of players who have the best chance of becoming the 2023 NFL Most Valuable Player. Orlovsky, who played as a quarterback back in the day, went with Miami Dolphins star receiver Tyreek Hill.

His argument was simple. Hill had set a target of eclipsing the 2000 receiving yard barrier this season. Orlovsky has complete faith that the 29-year-old is capable of achieving the feat based on his current form.

Oh, absolutely, he can get to 2,000. I expect him to, the way this offense is operating.

Greenberg, though, bet his money on T.J. Watt. The Pittsburgh Steelers pass rusher is currently leading the league in sacks with eight.

Can Tyreek Hill prove Dan Orlovsky right and achieve 2,000 yards in the 2023 season?

The way the Dolphins are playing, anything is possible. Mike McDaniel has devised a plan that allows his team to play aggressive football even under pressure. Not only do they like to dominate opponents, but they also don’t concede many points.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is once again at the center of the board, stitching every play. He has a 114.1 passer rating along with a 71% pass completion rate. But none of that would have been possible if he did not have someone like Tyreek Hill to pass. There was cause for concern when Hill decided to move to South Beach. His stint with the Chiefs ended with a Super Bowl ring, and many believed it would be downhill from then on. However, the four-time Pro Bowler has not lost either his speed or his catching prowess. He is well on the path to reaching 2000 yards.

Not only is he leading the league in yards gained after receiving the pass, but he is doing so with unprecedented efficiency. According to NFL.com, Tyreek Hill has 814 yards from just 42 receptions in six games.

Cheetah is miles ahead of the next-best Eagle, A.J. Brown, who has 672 yards from the same number of balls caught. NFL’s leader in receptions is Bengals Ja’Marr Chase, who has 50 but has only gained 556 yards.
