The Denver Broncos have doomed themselves with the way the team has handled the entire situation surrounding Russell Wilson. In under a week, fans of the team have turned against the organization and are praising the quarterback for keeping his calm despite how he has been treated by the team over the past few months.

Dan Orlovsky of ESPN chimed in and called the organization out for its mismanagement of the situation. The analyst said via Get Up, 

The way that they have handled it is unprofessional and classless...If you want to bench him, you're absolutely entitled to do that as the GM and HC. But to go to him and say, 'We want you to alter your contract that we signed off on or else we're going to threaten to bench you' is not the way you handle business in the NFL.

Orlovsky stood by Wilson and stated that the Broncos should know better than to treat a man who is a Super Bowl champion, a very well-respected veteran quarterback in this league, a winner of the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, and most importantly, a potential Hall of Famer in such an unprofessional manner.

Dan Orlovsky further stated, 

This is not about feelings, no one is going to feel bad about Russell Wilson because of his money. This is because of the way that you treat someone.

The quarterback has been a professional his entire career and even during the Broncos’ horrible losses, Wilson never took a jibe at the team or the coaching. He stood by them and remained accountable.

Russell Wilson has been treated and viewed as one of the primary reasons the Broncos failed last season and this year. Even though he has played significantly better, he has got his fair share of criticism. The man has played his heart out this season knowing very well that he could be let go this season.

For the Broncos to approach him and demand that he alter details of a contract that they negotiated and structured or else be prepared to be benched is utterly ridiculous. This puts the team’s mismanagement on full display and after this, the team is doomed because no star would even consider the thought of playing in the Mile High City.
