The Chicago Bears ended up with the No.1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft thanks to their abysmal 3-14 record and also with a little help from the Houston Texans. And now, they have an important decision to make. The team should decide between building a roster around the proven QB Justin Fields or starting over their rebuild by drafting the Alabama QB Bryce Young.

This topic has taken center stage on sports debate shows as the league steadily approaches the 2023 Draft day. Furthermore, many experts have shared their opinion about the topic and in that trend, ESPN analyst and former Detroit Lions quarterback Dan Orlovsky has shared his insights into the quarterback situation in Chicago.

Orlovsky made an appearance in the recent episode of the ESPN show Get Up to talk about the upcoming NFL offseason. During the episode, he talked about why he believes that the Chicago-based football team should build their franchise around their dual-threat quarterback Justin Fields instead of drafting the undersized Alabama QB Bryce Young.

“Justin Fields, first of all, he’s their starting QB. He’s their future. We are not drafting Bryce Young,” said Orlovsky in a recent episode of the show Get Up. “Their roster stinks. They need more players, so they need to trade back, but they need a team to fall in love with a quarterback that is different than who Houston, who has the second pick, falls in love with and gives them a ton of picks.”‘

Dan Orlovsky went on to claim that the dual-threat quarterback Justin Fields would become a great player if he had good support around him. Furthermore, he believes that to build a team around Fields, the Bears need to stock up on draft picks by trading away their first overall pick to the most desperate team.

“Justin Fields is going to be a really good player in this league if you continue to support him,” Orlovsky said. “If you’re the Bears, it’s not about just acquiring one singular player. You have to get four or five, six, seven really good players. And you got to do that by trading all the way back as much as you can in acquiring a lot of high-level talent.”

The Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields has proved that he has the potential to become the long-term signal caller in the NFL. So, they should build a team around him in the free agency and the draft, instead of going for the talented yet unproven QBs like Bryce Young.
