The New York Jets icon Darrelle Revis is one of the greatest cornerbacks to ever step onto the football field. During his playing days, Revis was a big problem for the opposing offensive units. As a result of his great accolades, Revis was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday. During his induction, Revis paid a heartfelt tribute to another great cornerback Deion Sanders with a Michael Jordan-Kobe Bryant comparison.

“I didn’t get the chance to play with this guy named Deion Sanders, but he was the prototype for me. What [Michael] Jordan is to Kobe [Bryant] is what Prime is to Revis Island,” said Revis during his Hall of Fame speech. “You came first, and I wanted to play just like you. You were the road map to greatness. Thank you for paving the way.”

The Chicago Bulls icon Michael Jordan conquered the NBA and was considered the greatest basketball player of all time. Then, Kobe Bryant came along and took the league by storm with his talents. Revis and Sanders share a similar story. Sanders came first and conquered the NFL and led the way for players like Darrelle Revis to dominate the league.

The Jets drafted Darrelle Revis in the 1st round (14th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft. Revis had a solid rookie campaign as he started all 16 games and registered 88 total tackles along with three interceptions.

In his second year, Revis announced himself to the league with 5 picks and 1 sack, which led to him receiving his first Pro Bowl nod. Revis spent 8 years in New York in two different stints registering 5 Pro Bowls and 3 first-team All-Pro seasons.
