The Las Vegas Raiders have had a difficult 2023 season so far. They are 3-3 through six weeks of the season. The record might suggest that the Raiders are in for a playoff berth this season, but the eye test says otherwise. They have two games in a row but their star WR Davante Adams only had two receptions against the New England Patriots last Sunday.

Adams is seemingly frustrated with his diminishing role within the Raiders offense as he hasn’t had a great season so far. In the last couple of games, Adams has been targeted a total of nine times and has six catches for 74 yards and zero touchdowns. He is yet to have a TD since the Raiders’ week 3 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers at the Allegiant Stadium.

“I’m a human being and I have extremely high standards for myself in this offense,” Adams said. “I’m sure people are thinking, ‘They won the game, why is there an issue?’ I mean, you see why it’s an issue. Y’all should know who I am, know what I’m about at this point … when you’re a player like me, mentally, my benchmark is not wins and losses — it’s greatness.”

He further continued by saying, “So when I go out there, I expect to be able to have that ability to put that on tape and have an influence on the game. That’s my purpose for being here. I’m not here just to hang out; I came here to win and to do it the right way. So if it don’t look like it’s supposed to look, then I’m going to be frustrated if I’m not a part of that plan”

The Raiders won their last game against the Patriots despite Adams not having a great game. They will look to build on this winning momentum, but the team will hope to get Adams involved in the offense as much as possible. They will play their next game against the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football.

Raiders HC Josh McDaniels echoes Davante Adams’ frustrations

Davante Adams is a frustrated player right now. He hasn’t had a great start to his season and his last couple of games have been lackluster. He vented out his frustrations during the Las Vegas Raiders’ media session ahead of their matchup with the Detroit Lions. Raiders’ HC Josh McDaniels echoed his frustrations.

“Honestly, great players wouldn’t be great if they didn’t want to try to help the team win in every way that they can,” McDaniels said. “Look, the game is different for them because they’ve achieved a certain status, and they want to contribute every single time that they’re out there as much as they can. So, that’s part of them being them. I would never tell them to squash that. He’s been a great leader, a great influence.”

The Raiders will hope to get another win against the Lions on Monday and Adams will look to be on the scoring sheet this Monday. He signed with the Raiders last year and had a terrific 2022 season. He will hope to regain some of the form in week 7.
