Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams is being evaluated for a possible concussion. He was not allowed to continue yesterday during a 38-10 loss against the Buffalo Bills.

This means that Adams could miss the Raiders home opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. As per the NFL’s concussion protocol, players have to be thoroughly checked before being okayed for active roster duty.

The Raiders went into Sunday’s game with optimism after their opening-day victory over the Broncos. They were favorites to make it two-for-two against a shaky Bills side.

Adams kicked off the day with a touchdown in the first quarter, but the Bills answered with one of their own. In the next three quarters, the Raiders were nonexistent on offense. The Bills added 26 unanswered points and were cruising when the tragic moment happened.

In the fourth quarter, with three minutes left on the clock, Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo threw into triple coverage. Bills cornerback Cam Lewis and safety Taylor Rapp collided helmet to helmet with Davante Adams, leaving him flat on the ground 10 yards from the end zone.

The six-time Pro Bowler, who led Las Vegas in catches on the day, popped back up. However, the refs decided to take no chance and sent him to the medical tent for examination. Later, NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport revealed that Adams was being evaluated for a concussion.

It’s only the second week of football, and several players are on concussion protocol. Last week, Adams’ wide receiver partner, Jakobi Meyers, had to leave the game for the same reason. Besides them, Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson and center Ryan Kelly also ended up on the list.

Seeing so many players go for unnecessary fouls has left the fans dissatisfied with the NFL. They want to see strict action taken against such rash plays.

After the game, Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels said, “Davante was very good today,” but they need more production from others as well. “We have other guys out there and need a lot of production from a lot of people if we’re going to be a good offense.”

Davante Adams led the Raiders in receptions on Sunday. He also recorded the 88th touchdown of his career. This means Admas is now fifth on the all-time TD scorer’s list in their first 10 seasons. Ahead of him are four Pro Football Hall of Famers: Jerry Rice (131), Randy Moss (124), Marvin Harrison (110), and Terrell Owens (101).
