The Michigan Wolverines head coach, Jim Harbaugh, is currently the hottest name in the head coach hiring in the NFL. He recently led the Wolverines to the college football national championship game. According to reports, he remains interested in pursuing head coach gigs in the NFL. However, the Carolina Panthers might already be out of that race.

The Panthers need a new head coach after firing Frank Reich in November. According to sports podcast host Travis Hancock, the Panthers remain uninterested in pursuing Harbaugh. The reason was the trouble in power dynamics between the head coach and owner David Tepper.

Later, the sports podcast host Hancock retweeted the post and confirmed that the Panthers were not actively pursuing the Wolverines head coach, despite his impressive resume. This is what he wrote:

It should be noted that the Panthers haven’t commented on their future yet. Also, Harbaugh hasn’t decided on his future either. Reportedly, he received a massive contract from Michigan, but he hasn’t accepted it yet.

David Tepper has fired his coaches in the middle of the season for two consecutive years. So, he will be very careful while selecting the franchise’s next leader, and if he wanted to miss out on Harbaugh, the Panthers fans would not appreciate it.

Michigan wants written commitment from Jim Harbaugh

Jim Harbaugh has been one of the most desired head coach candidates by NFL teams in the last few years. However, he has remained the Michigan Wolverines leader, leading them to a national championship game this season.

As a result of his success, Michigan is now prepared to offer him a massive $125 million contract, making him one of the highest-paid head coaches in college football.

However, the Wolverines reportedly expect a written statement that Harbaugh will remain committed to their team and not pursue a job in the NFL.

As of now, Harbaugh hasn’t accepted the contract. He is currently focused on defeating the Washington Huskies, their opponent in the national championship game.
