The Buffalo Bills‘ pursuit of wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins seems all set to meet a rather unfateful end. ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington revealed a couple of days back that the Bills are interested in acquiring his services, but want the wide receiver to agree to a financially weak contract, a tradition more popularly known as ring chasing around the NFL circuit.

Speaking on the Rich Eisen show, Darlington said, “My understanding with the Bills is like, yeah, they love DeAndre Hopkins, he’d be a great addition, but they’re not gonna pay him.” However, Darlington’s theory has been proven wrong by the receiver himself, who made his feelings absolutely clear about the prospect of having a “ring chase.”

DHop commented a series of emojis on an Instagram post made by the popular news outlet Bleacher Report and that ended all sorts of speculations regarding his possible trade to the Bills this offseason probably once and for all.

The theory of not being well off financially does not suit any footballer, and it is no different for the former Houston Texans receiver, who is reportedly delaying his decision to sign for a franchise in the hopes of receiving a lucrative contract in the coming days. Hopkins has already attracted massive interest from a number of franchises across the league.

DHop has already had a visit to the training facilities of the Tennessee Titans and the New England Patriots last month. According to various reports both franchises have made a contract offer to the player, with the Titans being more aggressive between the contending franchises.

Hopkins had an exceptional time with the Cardinals in the three years that he spent at the franchise. He was their best receiver by quite a margin, and had previously expressed his interest in joining a franchise with a stable management group.

Judging by the stance he has taken so far, to wait for more offers, it seems he still hasn’t found his ideal franchise. The All-Pro wide receiver will expect a cash-rich contract coming his way, especially after the way the NFL market has inflated over the past couple of seasons.
