The DeAndre Hopkins free agency saga is all set to come to a close finally. The 31-year-old wide receiver is all set to sign a contract with the Tennessee Titans ending months of speculations regarding his future in the National Football League.

The Arizona Cardinals shockingly released Hopkins in May, after failing to find a suitable trade partner throughout the offseason. However, after his release, the wide receiver attracted interest from numerous franchises including the likes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots and the Titans, who have officially emerged winners.

The Chiefs had come into the race of signing the premier wide receiver only in the past few days after Hopkins’ interaction with Chris Jones. The duo had a suggestive conversation on Instagram fuelling rumors of Hopkins possibly joining the Chiefs.

“The show… Enjoyed celebrating with my brothers last night,” Jones posted on Instagram. The post was met by a comment from the former Houston Texans receiver and Jones continued the conversation with a handshake emoji. As it turns out, that was just a normal conversation between two colleagues and nothing more than that.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, DeAndre Hopkins will sign a 2-year contract with the Titans worth a whopping $32 million, including incentives. Hopkins visited the AFC South team’s facilities in June, giving rise to initial speculations of his interest in joining the franchise ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Hopkins will also be reunited with Titans head coach Mike Vrabel, after their stint together with the Texans. The 31-year-old spent four years with Vrabel who served as the linebackers coach and defensive coordinator between 2014 and 2017.

Mike Vrabel also revealed that he knew about Hopkins’ move to the Titans while talking with Pat McAfee during the Lake Tahoe Golf tournament. “I did know that. I’m the head coach, I knew… actually knew the news yesterday… I didn’t want to give it to you,” Vrabel said about Hopkins’ signing.

The Titans had one of the worst offenses last season, ranking at an underwhelmingly low 29th among the 32 NFL franchises in terms of receiving yards, and will hope that the addition of DeAndre Hopkins helps them improve their offense on the whole.
