The best players bring out the best in them when back into the corner. During the NFC Championship game last month, the San Francisco 49ers were trailing the Detroit Lions 24-7 at halftime.

All-Pro Wide Receiver Deebo Samuel, who was a mute spectator during the first two quarters, realized they needed to turn things around or the Lions would make a mockery out of them.

Despite the big lead, Samuel revealed the 49ers player’s heads did not drop. Instead, they wanted to put up a fight in the second half. The 28-year-old in particular was so in the zone that he apparently went through a blackout moment.

On Wednesday, a reporter asked Samuel, who only had three touches of the ball in the entire first half, about a rumor that he demanded more passes.

I think it was a little different in that game. We are down 17; I mean, bro, somebody has to do something. I was in the mode where I couldn't even really talk. It was like I was just so in the zone. It was definitely a black-out moment.

Jed York backed up Deebo Samuel’s claims of wanting the ball more at halftime

It was a tense environment inside the 49ers locker room when general manager John Lynch made his way inside and revealed owner Jed York to Kay Adams. York gave an exclusive interview on the Up and Adams show, where he spoke about the conversation between Lynch and Samuel.

I love Deebo. He is awesome, very raw, and very, very to the point. I don’t know if you know, but Lynch went down to the locker room at halftime.
York told Adams,

York gave Lynch’s description of Samuel’s body language in the locker room. The 49ers were only 30 minutes of football away from saying goodbye to the Super Bowl for another year, but the Pro Bowl receiver wanted to fight.

Lynch said, ‘Deebo is just sitting there, just shaking.’ Deebo says, ‘Just tell Kyle [Shanahan] to give me the damn ball.’ That’s who Deebo is. He's ready to take over a game at any point.
York further added

Samuel finished the game with a playoff career-high eight receptions for a team-high 89 yards. His receiving partner, Brandon Aiyuk, registered three receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Brock Purdy completed 20-of-31 passing attempts for 267 yards and a touchdown with a passer rating of 89.0. Running back Christian McCaffrey registered 20 carries for a team-high 90 yards and two touchdowns. The 49ers won 34-31, becoming the first team in the playoffs to win from a 17-point deficit.
