Looks like the Colorado Buffaloes‘ new head coach isn’t quite good with Geography. Thank god, he isn’t a professor! Deion Sanders, in his most natural form, made headlines for a mistaken geography fact about Mount Rushmore, or “those four little heads” as he described.
This is Sanders’ first season as a head coach of the Buffaloes, who has performed poorly this season. At a recent press conference regarding that, reporters asked the head coach about his team not playing up to his expectations, referencing one of the most famous landmarks in America, Mount Rushmore.
Sanders said, gesturing toward the sky:
My expectations are out of the darn park. C'mon, man. What’s those little four heads that are in California? What do they call those? The people's faces engraved?
As the media realised what he said, they collectively corrected him, saying that Mount Rushmore is not in California but South Dakota. Sanders laughed and said:
I thought it was in LA all this time. Wow. My geography. That’s the Hollywood thing? That's what I thought. I'm sorry.
Despite the awkward exchange with the media, Sanders remained humble and didn’t stop himself from admitting his mistakes. He then thanked the media for “educating him” on this fact. Moving forward, it sure has been a rollercoaster ride for Sanders with Colorado this season. They had a good start with 3-0 but later got defeated by two Oregon and USC top-25 teams. They have suffered five back-to-back losses, after their recent loss against Arizona State.
Fan reaction to Deion Sanders’ geographical mistake on Mount Rushmore
As the clip of Sanders’ wrong fact on the Mount Rushmore location went viral over social media, fans seemed to relate it to Colorado’s bizarre performance. The team has failed even below their expectations, this season.
Sanders took over the team after seeing their 1-11 record last season, and with everything happening now, it sure has messed up the head coach’s mind. One fan wrote, “Losing record will cloud one’s mind,” while another wrote, “Or know what it was called, and just ‘people’s heads’. Lmao.”
Fans are defending Sanders by reasoning that no one goes to South Dakota, that’s why he doesn’t know. While many joked about how he doesn’t even know what it’s called and called it “four little heads.”
