The hottest topic in the football world currently is the blatant late hit by the Colorado State Rams defensive back Henry Blackburn on the Colorado Buffaloes’ two-way star Travis Hunter. Many former and current NFL players have been openly calling for a suspension of Blackburn for that unnecessary late hit. Some fans went one step further and allegedly sent death threats to Blackburn and his family. Amidst this situation, Colorado’s head coach Deion Sanders has shown support to the CSU defensive back.

“Henry Blackburn is a good player who played a phenomenal game,” Sanders told reporters in a press conference on Tuesday.“He made a tremendous hit on Travis on the sideline. You could call it dirty, you could call it, ‘He was just playing the game of football.’ But whatever it was, it does not constitute that he should be receiving death threats.”

Furthermore, Sanders took the high road by saying Blackburn’s actions in the game didn’t deserve death threats. He said that everybody in the Colorado team, including him and Travis Hunter, has forgiven Henry Blackburn for the late hit.

“That this is still a young man trying to make it in life. A guy that’s trying to live his dream and hopefully graduate with honors or degree, committed to excellence and go to the NFL. He does not deserve a death threat over a game,” said Sanders.

Blackburn, a senior defensive back of the Colorado State Rams, was flagged for unnecessary roughness over his blatant late hit on Hunter. As a result of the hit, Hunter suffered a lacerated kidney and is expected to miss at least the next three weeks.

Blackburn’s aggressive hit was questioned by many people, including the Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons. Later, the CSU head coach Jay Norvell revealed that the defensive back received death threats because of his late hit.

Travis Hunter also showed support for Henry Blackburn

Amidst the alleged death threats, the Colorado head coach Deion Sanders and the two-way star Travis Hunter both have forgiven Henry Blackburn. They have condemned the death threats against the CSU DB.

Hunter posted a video on his YouTube channel and said at the end of the day it was just a football game and stuff like this happens all the time. Sanders also said that a kid shouldn’t be getting death threats over a hit on a football game.

Nonetheless, Coach Prime and Colorado will now shift their focus to the No.10 Oregon Ducks, who they are scheduled to face this weekend. Facing a tough team like Oregon without their star player Hunter would be a real test for the Colorado Buffaloes.
