Deion Sanders is more than just a football coach. He is a father figure to all his athletes and guides them on core values by teaching them how to become better leaders, students, sons, and humans in general. Throughout the Colorado Buffaloes college football season, he made sure to call prominent personalities to give their perspectives on different subjects in life to his players. Coach Prime once called Brittany Renner, the controversial Instagram influencer and model who gained notoriety after she became pregnant with the son of Charlotte Hornets player P.J. Washington in 2021.

Renner was subject to a lot of backlash on social media as individuals accused her of taking advantage of the NBA player for child support payments and financially draining him. Deion Sanders, however, saw an opportunity in this whole incident and decided to invite Renner to give his football team a perspective on how there are women out there running game on NFL players.

Prime responded to Shannon Sharpe’s question on what he was attempting to accomplish by inviting the controversial star to address the Colorado Buffaloes’. He said this via the Club Shay Shay podcast.

Brittany is a real woman. She keeps it 100, she keeps it straightforward, and she is a tremendous influencer on Instagram. Bring her in to talk about game from a woman’s point of view was unbelievable. Had I had a Brittany Renner when I was in college, I would be $15 million richer!

Coach Prime wanted his players to understand how women are out there trying to get athletes to fall for them in order to fund their own lives of luxury. It is nothing short of a vicious game in itself and Renner knows models who do this without hiding it and hence, she was the right person to call. Prime wished he had someone give him the talk like Renner did as it could have saved him a lot of money.

Sanders further said:

The coldest line she said, 'I got more checks in my DMs than Nike'...it's women out there who do their homework, they know everything about y'all because you tell on yourself on the ground and on socials...it's all a plan. She was unbelievable.

The NFL legend opened his student’s eyes by giving them exposure to this talk.

Athletes, especially collegiate athletes flex a lot, be it through their social media or otherwise. Women watch all this and they know which of them is worth more financially. By doing this, they are making themselves a target and while the athletes keep thinking that the women like them for their “game,” in reality they like them for the life that they can provide for them.

Deion Sanders hoped his students took away a few key things from this conversation with Renner. Here’s what he had to say:

I'm hoping and I know a few guys learned tremendously from her speech. She opened a lot of eyes.

Renner’s speech gave these athletes a reality check on the cons of the fame that comes with their position. Sanders was certain that some of the guys on his team learned a lot from her speech and are most certainly in a position to avoid making mistakes now that they know a lot better.
