The Colorado Buffaloes’ head coach Deion Sanders has hit back at the Colorado State Rams’ head football coach Jay Norvell over his recent remarks. In one of the episodes of Thursday Coach Show, Sanders took a jibe at the head coach by saying he is a grown-up person and no one can dictate what should he wear and what should he not.

I’m minding my own business watching some film, trying to get ready, trying to get out here and be the best coach I can be and I look up and I read some bull junk that they done said about us, once again,” Coach Prime said to his boys.

Sanders further began his remarks with a statement that might raise eyebrows, “Why would you talk about us when we don’t talk about nobody? All we do is go out here, work our b*tts off and do our job on Saturday. But when they give us ammunition … they done messed around and made it what?”

Clearly relishing the opportunity to motivate his team, Sanders continued with a smile, saying, “It was supposed to be a great test, a Colorado showdown, but they’ve turned it into something else.” To this, his team echoed, “PERSONAL.”

The reaction came a few days after Norvell made some offensive remarks against Sanders. In his weekly coach show appearance, Norvell said that he does not wear hats or sunglasses (or even both) while interacting with grown-ups. This is something that he has learned from his mother.

They really are tired of it. And I sat down with ESPN today, and I don’t care if they hear it in Boulder. I told them, ‘I took my hat off, and I took my glasses off.’ And I said, ‘When I talk to grown-ups, I take my hat and my glasses off.’ That’s what my mother taught me,” he added.

It is difficult to see Deion Sanders without sunglasses and hats. He has always been seen wearing those, even while interacting with the press and the analysts. He always appears in a casual outfit. It seems like his fashion sense and appearance have triggered some of the big shots in college-level football.

Sanders is living the best of his life. He took charge of the Colorado Buffalo team after their 1-11 disaster, last season. He imported new players and changed the body language of the team completely. The Buffaloes won back-to-back games this season and are gearing up for the next game against the Colorado State.

The match between these two football teams is considered a derby game in the world of college football. Both teams seek to win the game to satisfy their fan base. The intrastate rivalry began in the year 1893 and was played annually till 1958 except in the years 1901, 1905, and 1943–44. The winning side gets the Centennial Cup.

Derby matches (in all sports) usually go beyond the field. Fans, sometimes the coaches and the players too, often take a dig at each other. This is what is happening currently before the match between the Colorado Buffaloes and the Colorado State Rams. The war of words between two coaches has added a personal color to the game.

At the practice session, Sanders was seen using the opportunity to inspire his players. He used the comments made by Norvell to motivate his players ahead of the game.
