Deion Sanders is not rushing the decision to send his son Shedeur Sanders to the NFL, at least not for another year. He wants him to return to the Colorado Buffaloes this season and hopefully, emerge as serious contenders for the National Championship. Coach Prime has the same trajectory for his wide receiver Travis Hunter, whom he does not want to go to the NFL in 2024.
Despite the Colorado Buffaloes’ poor 4-8 performance this season which left them at the bottom of the Pac-12 conference standings, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter stood out and excelled in every game. Hunter missed some time after he went down with an injury in game 3 of the season, but he left no doubt in the minds of viewers that he has a bright future in college football and the NFL.
Shedeur Sanders, his quarterback, had a great year, having thrown for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. He proved himself to be a dual-threat quarterback like the likes of Lamar Jackson. His biggest drawback this season was the offensive line. Shedeur took too many hits because his O-line could not block and as a result. In spite of this, he managed to put up those numbers.
Deion Sanders believes his stars are top picks in the NFL Draft. Scouts will beg to differ on this. The former NFL cornerback said,
We may have the first and second pick of the next year's draft...Did I just say that? That plays for Colorado? Did I mention that? OK, I just wanted to mention that.Deion Sanders via ESPN
Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are being watched by several NFL scouts
Deion Sanders is looking to work on the flaws of the Buffaloes’ and if he were to allow his son Shedeur and Travis Hunter to make their way to the NFL, it would be a lose-lose situation for all of them. Coach Prime will not stand a chance against the other teams in college football without a solid quarterback and a star wideout. As for Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, while their draft potential is high, they are generating little interest from NFL teams at the moment.
Teams want to see more of them. They need to see if the duo can play at an elite level again this year. The Colorado hype train this season was unprecedented, to see a team that won just 1 game in its previous season have celebrities and a stadium packed with fans screaming at the top of their lungs vouching for them to win was a testament to the belief fans have in Deion Sanders as a head coach.
Travis Hunter is reportedly thought to be the “first overall pick” in the NFL Draft as a CB by Deion Sanders (Colorado HC).

Hunter is also reportedly thought to be the first overall pick in the NFL Draft as a WR by Sanders.

Hunter is an elite wideout. If he is able to stay completely healthy next season, the duo of him and Shedeur could accomplish something great. Coach Prime is clear on one thing, this season, the Buffaloes have just one goal and that is contending for the National Championship, anything less than that is not acceptable.
