The New England Patriots lost their eighth game of the season against the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday. It was an ugly performance by the Pats as their offense struggled to put up points on the board. QB Mac Jones did not have a single touchdown drive and the Pats could only manage a couple of field goals. He was benched with the game on the line as backup QB Bailey Zappe replaced him.

After the game, Jones was left frustrated with some of the coaching decisions during the game. Before halftime, HC Bill Belichick decided to go for a field goal instead of going for a 60-yard Hail Mary pass to take the lead of the game. Jones wasn’t having a great game by this point, but the Patriots could have gone for it considering the situation. Jones was asked about it after the game.

When asked about Belichick’s decision to go for a field goal instead of a Hail Mary, Jones said,

No clue, there's two seconds left and we needed 60 yards so... I don't know.

The Pats failed to convert the field goal and went into halftime with a deficit of four points. Jones finished the game with 170 yards and one interception.

The Patriots will play their next game against the New York Giants. Jones will look to turn around his and the Pats’ season as soon as possible. However, the way things are going in New England, Jones might not be the quarterback to see the turnaround happen.

Mac Jones benched in the fourth quarter during the Patriots-Colts game on Sunday

The New England Patriots‘ QB Mac Jones had a horrible game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. HC Bill Belichick had enough of that and benched him late in the fourth quarter, with the game on the line.

Bailey Zappe took his place but failed to lead the Pats to the endzone. Belichick revealed the reason for the benching after the game.

Thought it was time for a change.
Belichick said when asked about Jones’ benching.

He refused to comment on if the third-year QB will be the team’s starter against the New York Giants next Sunday.

Jones so far this season has thrown for 2,031 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also has 10 interceptions and hasn’t looked comfortable in the offense at all this season. Belichick might just bench him going forward and give Bailey Zappe a chance.
