Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence

DeMarcus Lawrence has made a name for himself at the highest level. The experienced defensive end played college football at Boise State and impressed one and all with his performances.

As expected, he was roped in by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of the 2014 draft. The 6 feet 3 inches tall DE is a two-time Pro Bowler and is itching to guide his team to a Super Bowl title. Without a doubt, Lawrence is a major part of the Cowboys’ defense.

Moreover, back in 2019, the Cowboys made Lawrence the highest-paid defensive end in the league. However, there is one man in the Cowboys unit who actually gave Lawrence a run for his money last year. Yes, we are talking about Micah Parsons. In the 2021 season, Parson had 13 sacks, even when he wasn’t pass-rushing full time.

As reported by USA Today, Lawrence recently claimed that he wants to regain his dominance in the coming season by outperforming Micah. “I let a rookie show me up last year. Shout out to my boy Micah. But I want to restate my dominance. Let everybody know that I’m coming, how I feel and the type of respect I’m going to demand when I step on that field,” he said.

However, Parsons is in no mood to let Lawrence steal the limelight. “I want D-Law to step up, I want him to be who he is, I’m not taking that away from him,” Parsons said. “But I’m sorry to tell him he’s never getting that (the sack lead) back. I want him to get all the enjoyment that he possibly can, feed his head so he can be a 10-sack guy,” he added.

It is incredible to see respect and competition among the players in the Cowboys unit. They have been a very good team but have somehow managed to underperform in tough situations, especially in the playoffs. It will be interesting to see if the Dallas-based franchise can change something in the coming season.
