There has been a lot of protest and agitation in the State of Tennessee after the House decided to expel two Democratic Representatives as they interrupted debate by supporting protesters for stricter gun laws.
This was done in the wake of the school shooting in Nashville which left six children dead. This is only the third time after the Civil War that the Tennessee statehousehas decided to oust a lawmaker from it’s ranks as they expelled Justin Jones and Justin J. Pearson.
The Republican majority house voted 72-25 to expel Justin Jones and 69-26 to remove Justin Pearson. “We don’t want to be up here, but we have no choice but to find a way… to disrupt business as normal, because business as normal is our children dying,” Mr. Pearson had said.
Hunter Hillenmeyer is disappointed with Tennessee House decision on Justin Jones

Hunter Hillenmeyer is a former outside linebacker who was picked up by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round of the 2003 NFL draft. However he was then cut off at the end of the preseason and consequently joined the Chicago Bears with whom he was associated till 2010. After suffering a concussion injury, the Bears had to let him go.
Hunter Hillenmeyer has raised his voice on Justin Jones’ expulsion from the Tennessee House and said he feels ashamed to be a Tennessean. Hillenmeyer feels there’s no side in this debate and that it’s a battle between democracy and fascism rather than Republican vs Democrat.
“Never thought I’d feel ashamed to be a Tennessean. Seeing lots of ‘time to pick a side’ tweets in my timeline. There is no side on this. It’s not Republican vs. Democrat. It’s democracy vs. fascism. There should only be one side. Shame on us!“, Hillenmeyer tweeted.
“What happened yesterday was a very sad day for democracy. The nation was able to see we don’t have democracy in Tennessee. I have no regrets. I will continue to stand up for my constituents,” Justin Jones had later said.
Tennessee’s House of Representatives consists of 75 Republicans and 23 Democrats.
