“It would be great,” Derek Carr gives his verdict on the Las Vegas Raiders potentially signing Colin Kaepernick this season
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is a huge advocate of Colin Kaepernick’s talent, and expressed interest in having him at the franchise ahead of the 2022 NFL season. The whole of NFL has tripped upon the single issue ever since the offseason started, and it emerged that Colin Kaepernick had decided to return to the pitch.
The majority of the franchises however have not decided to bring Kaepernick into the squad, believing that it would be a distraction to the whole squad. Kaepernick has not played in the NFL ever since 2016 after he protested against racial discrimination during the US National anthem during a match.
Derek Carr approves of the idea of signing Colin Kaepernick
However, after a long wait of about 6 years, the 34-year old might have just found a way back into the league, if the Raiders act on Derek Carr’s opinion. The latter spoke very highly of Colin Kaepernick and thinks that the duo would get along very well, if he is brought into the franchise.
“I don’t want to speak for everybody in that kind of sense — I don’t want someone mad at me for saying, ‘I think it would be great,’ — but I know him and I would get along great,” Carr said Tuesday, following the Raiders’ first mandatory minicamp practice.
“I know we have in the past, and I think we would again. I think for the most part, I think he’d get along great with our guys.”
“I remember our days back then, and just watching him and what he did in college and getting to know him and talking to him on the phone,” Carr said. “I’ve told you guys, I’ve loved my time with him. I think he’s a great guy. He’s been great to be around. I’ve enjoyed being around him, talking with him, competing against him.”
