Derek Carr and the New Orleans Saints suffered a loss against the Trevor Lawrence-led Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night in their Week 7 matchup. Carr and the Saints’ offense struggled throughout the game before gaining some steam in the fourth quarter. Their struggle became very evident in the game when their quarterback, Carr, yelled at his wide receiver, Chris Olave, after an incompletion.
In the 4th quarter of the game, the Saints were trying to erase an 8-point lead and were finally getting something done on offense. During the crucial time, the New Orleans-based football team was facing a crucial 3rd and 5 from their own 12-yard line. Carr, who received the snap from the shotgun position, heaved the rock, trying to connect with his wide receiver, Chris Olave, for a huge gain.
But he overthrew his receiver, and Olave could just watch it sail past the sidelines. After the incompletion, Saints quarterback Derek Carr was seemingly pissed at his second-year pass catcher, Chris Olave, for not catching the ball despite overthrowing it nearly 10 yards out of bounds. Check out the footage of the sequence attached below.
Fans on social media made fun of Carr for acting furious despite making a mistake on a crucial third down. “He supposed to jump first row to catch it?” wrote one X user. Nonetheless, the Saints suffered a 31-24 loss against the Jaguars in their TNF matchup and fell to a 3-4 record.
Derek Carr has had a shaky start in New Orleans
During the 2023 off-season, the Saints made a shocking move to sign former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr to a 4-year deal worth up to $150 million, which includes $100 million in guarantees.
The $150,000,000-worth quarterback is off to a shaky start in New Orleans. So far, in 7 games, Carr has registered 1,600 yards. But he has only thrown six touchdowns in seven weeks and has already thrown four interceptions. He isn’t necessarily off to a bad start, but he just hasn’t found his rhythm yet in the new offense.
Due to the shaky start by QB Derek Carr, the Saints are off to a bad 3-4 start but still have a shot at winning the NFC South division. Now, they will look to make a statement with a dominant victory against the Indianapolis Colts, who they are scheduled to face in their Week 8 game next weekend.
