On Monday night, the New Orleans Saints successfully defeated their NFC South division rivals Carolina Panthers in their week 2 matchup. The Saints improved to 2-0 following their 20-17 victory against Carolina. After the game, the Saints receiver Michael Thomas and the Panthers defensive lineman Derrick Brown got into a heated altercation that continued till their locker room.
A brief video posted on social media by a random user shows Derrick Brown chasing the Saints receiver Michael Thomas to the locker room while being stopped by someone who seemed like a security guard. The video started as Thomas began walking in the tunnel and turned back to yell something at Brown, who then started chasing Thomas to the locker room.
At a turn to the locker room from the tunnel, Thomas and Brown came face-to-face and the defensive lineman had to be stopped by a guard before things escalated. Towards the end of the video, Derrick Brown was escorted away from Thomas.
The short video shared on social media has accumulated over 7 million views within a day. Fans on social media had plenty to say about the heated altercation between the receiver and the defensive lineman. It is unknown what exactly Thomas said that made Brown mad.
Michael Thomas played a big role on Monday helping Derek Carr the Saints to defeat the Panthers. The former All-Pro pass catcher Thomas caught seven passes for 55 yards. Brown had a good game too as he registered 9 tackles, but he ended up on the losing side of the game.
Saints coach clarifies spat between Michael Thomas and Derrick Brown
More details have emerged about the fiery postgame spat between the Saints star receiver Michael Thomas and the Panthers pass rusher Derrick Brown after the end of the Monday Night Football game.
The Saints’ head coach Dennis Allen has now shared some details. Allen said that Thomas was confused and walked through the tunnel of the Carolina-based football team instead of the Saints tunnel, which upset some Panthers players according to ESPN reporter Katherine Terrell. Some Panthers players reportedly took offense to Thomas walking through their tunnel after defeating them on the field.
Nonetheless, both Thomas and Brown would look to leave the incident in the past. However, this fiery incident might have an impact on their rematch, when the Panthers visit the Saints in week 14 of the 2023 NFL regular season.
