The Tennessee Titans had another disappointing loss this season, this time against the Houston Texans in week 15. It was a close encounter that ended up in favor of the Texans 19-16. With another loss, the Titans moved onto the 5-9 record. They are presently the last boy in the AFC South Division with zero hopes left for the postseason.
After the morale-downing defeat, the Titans RB Derrick Henry had a lot of self-criticism. He did not shy away from saying that they were poor on the turf and failed to capitalize on things. In addition, the player also raised some questions regarding his time on the Titans team. This can be the last season for the RB on the Titans roster.
Yeah, definitely today you had that feeling [that it could be the end of my career with the Titans]--I had hope of kind of slipping in there [the playoffs], and then being eliminated with three games left. I've been here my whole career. Definitely wanted to go out strong, which that isn't the case.Derrick Henry post Texans game
With these words in front of the press, the RB raised a lot of speculations. The RB had signed a four-year contract worth $50 million with the Titans in 2020. It is going to be run out after this season and there are high possibilities that the RB might end up being a free agent.
Nonetheless, the Titans are expected to have some sort of brainstorming regarding what can they do for the RB. According to a report by ESPN, they will have a $91.8 million cap space, hence a contract extension might come into the reality.
Derrick Henry had a poor game against the Texans
Henry had one of the worst performances in his life against the Texans. He had 16 attempts for only nine yards. No wonder the RB failed to gain a single touchdown in the game. Ended up having only four receptions as well.
Considering his and the team’s performance, the RB added,
We weren't great today as a whole. They were the better team today. The credit goes to them. It seemed like they had an answer for everything.
The Titans need a lot of brainstorming sessions to lift themselves up in the next season. They have a quarterback problem. Their first-choice quarterback Ryan Tannehill is injured and was ruled out from the season. Backup quarterback Will Levis had some important stints. It is to be seen who they choose as their starter in the next season.
