Chip Kelly was hired as the HC of the Philadelphia Eagles almost a decade ago, However, DeSean Jackson is still salty about the appointment. The HC had a 3-year stint with the team before being fired.
Jackson is regarded as a true Eagles legend. The WR had multiple Pro Bowl appearances and was instrumental to the team. Sadly, the former NFL WR was surprisingly released by the Eagles and had to join another team.
Recently, Jackson spoke about HC Chip Kelly to the ‘PHLEaglesNation’ and called him out for his poor management. The former WR is still upset about his departure and many other players. He believes that Kelly faltered with the core of the team and that led to a downfall for them.
“I don’t respect Chip Kelly. What he did, you can ask any Eagles fan ever, They’ll tell you the same thing. He dismantled our team. There’s no way you get rid of DeSean Jackson, LeSean McCoy, Mike Vick, Jeremy Maclin,” DeSean Jackson stated. “We were Philadelphia.”
Chip Kelly was given a drastically different role than all his predecessors. The former Eagles HC had administrative control while being the HC of the team. This is similar to Bill Belichick‘s role with the New England Patriots.
Kelly took ultimate advantage of his new role and decided to make widespread changes to the team. However, they didn’t last long but gave great results during a short period of time.

Chip Kelly produced decent results with his ‘aggressive’ approach
Although DeSean Jackson despises Chip Kelly for breaking the core of the team, he did have decent results doing so. In Fact, Jackson had his best season with the Eagles when Kelly signed for them.
The legendary WR ran for 1,332 yards while recording 9 touchdowns and 82 receptions. This also helped him get to a Pro Bowl selection. In Kelly’s first two seasons in charge, the Eagles managed to get a combined record of 20-12 with an added playoff qualification.
However, it was the third year when Chip Kelly lost his magic and managed to get a 6-9 losing record. He was ultimately fired after that. DeSean Jackson wasn’t around to experience it as the talented WR had taken his services to the division rivals in the Washington Commanders. Interestingly, the Eagles have come a long way from that and have been serious title challengers in the past couple of seasons.
