The Baltimore Ravens activated Mark Andrews after weeks of speculation. But retired NFL wide receiver DeSean Jackson doesn’t understand the reason behind the tight end’s inclusion in the Ravens AFC Championship game.

During his recent appearance on Up and Adams with Kay Adams, Jackson claimed that the Ravens did not need to activate Andrews so quickly. Not only that, the 37-year-old sounded adamant that the team was winning without the All-Pro tight end just fine.

No disrespect to Mark Andrews, but do we really need him to win? We’ve been winning fine without him.

Adams’ “hmm’ was enough to give away what she thought about Jackson’s opinion. Andrews, when fit, is undeniably a top-five player in his position. With him by their side, the Ravens can call themselves a complete team.

On January 26, NFL insider Ian Rapoport announced that the Baltimore Ravens were activating Mark Andrews from the injured reserve list. Rapoport wrote,

Now official: The #Ravens have activated All-Pro TE Mark Andrews from injured reserve, and he’ll play on Sunday in the AFC title game against the #Chiefs.

On November 1, while facing the Cincinnati Bengals, Andrews suffered a cracked fibula and an ankle ligament injury during the first quarter following a challenge by Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson. The Ravens ruled him out for the rest of the season after he underwent surgery.

Before the injury, the 28-year-old was having another Pro Bowl Caliber season. He had amassed 544 yards and six touchdowns in 10 games while drawing out 8 targets in at least 3 games. In his absence, 2022 fourth-round pick Isaiah Likely took over starting duty.

Likely has six touchdowns from 23 catches for 356 yards this season, including one in the Texans game in the divisional round. Still, according to football fans on social media, an All-Pro receiver can make a lot of difference.

Why is DeSean Jackson against Mark Andrews late inclusion in the Ravens roster ahead of the AFC Championship game?

DeSean Jackson argued that the Ravens had already established a good system, despite Andrews not being part of it. Likely is doing well, and he doesn’t see the benefits of including someone who hasn’t played for seven games.

You already have your sauce, your rhythm.
Jackson told Adams

The Ravens can use Andrews both ways. He is already a weapon going forward, with 401 catches, 5,069 receiving yards, and 40 touchdowns. But John Harbaugh can use the Sooners graduate as a steadfast blocker. In that way, both Likely and Andrews can share the pitch at the same time and get the run rings around the Kansas City Chiefs players.
