Deshaun Watson

The Deshaun Watson saga continues to unfold with new twists and turns coming out in public domain almost every day. A storm was ignited when Retd. Judge Sue L. Robinson’s ruling that Watson would be suspended for the first 6 games of the season came out.

The world was not ready to accept the mild punishment and ended up seeing an outrage across the internet over the ruling. Even the NFL itself didn’t look satisfied with the judge’s decision. The league was actually pushing for a year-long ban on the Cleveland Browns quarterback.

The ruling by Judge Robinson was based on violation of the league’s personal conduct policy by Watson. Most of cases have been settled out of court by Watson and his legal team. “We’ve seen the evidence,” Goodell had claimed following Tuesday’s Special League Meeting in Minneapolis.

Disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson was very clear about the evidence, should we enforce the evidence. That there was multiple violations here, and they were egregious, and it was predatory behavior. Those are things that we always felt were important for us to address in a way that’s responsible,” Goodell had added.

What comes as another twist in the tale, Associated Press recently reported that Deshaun is actually ready to accept 8-game suspension and a fine of $5 million. It is important to note that former New Jersey Attorney General Peter C. Harvey will take the final decision in the appeal process who was appointed by Goodell.

Moreover, as reported by CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones, the league will push for at least a season ban along with a hefty fine. It will be interesting to see what happens next in the case.
