“It’s far from over”: Deshaun Watson might still be banned for entire season

Deshaun Watson

Deshaun Watson as made a name for himself at the highest level. His incredible performances on the field prompted the Browns to rope him in for a hefty amount. However, the troubles kept on growing for the Browns as Deshaun’s legal issues kept creeping up. The renowned quarterback was alleged by several women on charges of molestation and sexual harassment.

Ever since the claims were made, we saw a number of twists in the high profile case. Reportedly, the NFL was first inclined on handing out severe punishment to Deshaun Watson for his involvement in the sexual harassment cases as fans were seemingly angry with the QB’s behavior. However, the league’s stance reportedly changed a little as new revelations in the case started emerging.

Finally, Judge Sue Robinson gave her verdict on Monday about the widely discussed case. She suggested that Watson should be suspended for 6 games in the coming season. As one can imagine, the decision ended up causing a huge outcry on different social media platforms.

However, one point which hasn’t been highlighted as much as it should have been is the fact that the NFL still has the option to appeal against the decision given by Sue. Issuing a statement after the verdict came out, the league claimed, “we appreciate Judge Robinson’s diligence and professionalism throughout this process.”

Pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement, the NFL or the NFLPA on behalf of Watson may appeal the decision within three days. In light of her findings, the league is reviewing Judge Robinson’s imposition of a six-game suspension and will make a determination on next steps,” the statement read.

Now all eyes are on the league to take a call. Without a doubt, the kind of criticism they are getting after Judge Robinson’s verdict is massive and in case they decide not to appeal against it, the NFL will attract more backlash. They have the option to go against the decision but will they take that call or not, only time will tell.
