When Joe Flacco led the Cleveland Browns straight to the playoffs after winning four straight games, it caused a stir among the fans as they wanted the franchise to re-sign the quarterback as the backup. Amidst the chaos, one thing that remained constant was the Browns’ starting quarterback– Deshaun Watson.
When Watson fractured his glenoid bone in mid-November, he had to undergo surgery and had been in rehab for a full recovery. But as the three-time Pro Bowler threw last week, he dismissed those speculations of him potentially missing the start of next season and moved a step closer to his full recovery.
While talking about the subject at his “QB Unplugged” podcast, the Browns’ starting QB also expressed his optimism about his return (as reported by Jeff Schudel of the News-Herald).
The situation is good. We’re in a great spot, right where we need to be. We have plenty of time to ramp up the throwing sessions and things like that, but everything is going pretty smooth. As long as I’m feeling well and the doctors and [physical therapists] and everyone are on the same page, we’re in a good spot.Deshaun Watson said
Watson didn’t reveal any other details regarding his recovery or whether he’s gaining his former pace while throwing. Hence, it appears like the quarterback is ready for a startling return in the upcoming season.
Browns’ QB Deshaun Watson on track for 2024 Season
Given Watson’s speedy recovery, the Browns doesn’t have a reason to put him on the injury list for the first few weeks of the 2024 season. The Browns General Manager Andrew Berry initially revealed the good news at the annual owners’ meeting, about Watson making his way to full recovery ahead of the 2024 NFL season.
Berry confirmed that all the medical work requiring the quarterback to play in the season has been done and the 28-year-old’s recovery has been positive so far.
We’re not anticipating any issues.Andrew Berry confirmed
After being in rehab since last November, Watson returned to throwing last week, in Los Angeles. He is likely to be in Cleveland on April 15, when the team’s offseason would take place.
