When you are the starting Quarterback in the NFL you are under a lot of pressure specially when you are in the bright lights of Manhattan in the Big Apple with the New York media following every move you make, words can not describe the pressure you carry. Zach Wilson was the new Quarterback for the Jets after being drafted in the first round when the Jets moved on from Sam Darnold.

Since being drafted by the Jets Wilson hasn’t had the best time as he got injured last year and missed quite a few games. This offseason has been a rollercoaster for Wilson because of his personal life and some interesting accusations. Wilson when asked about what last year was like for him said- “It was crazy, the ups and downs, but I think it’s kind of expected. I think the exciting part is now we look forward to a new year and the new pieces we have, and for me, the steps that I’ve taken.” The show’s co host Boomer Esiason asked Wilson about where was Wilson’s head at in his rookie season.

It was really just understanding what’s the most efficient way to prep and play within this offense. I kind of felt like coming into the NFL, I had to know everything when you really don’t need to, as long as you understand your reads and you know if its men or zone here and just playing fast.”

When asked about too many people being in his ear Wilson explained the his personal Quarterback Coach John Beck helped by being a silent person in the meeting and explaining to him what the coach meant and explained things from a QB’s perspective more than a coach’s.

Wilson also talked about the impact of having Joe Flacco in the Quarterback room- “he brings a different element, right. Joe’s not gonna sit there and purposely like over do it, trynna coach me. That’s not what his job and he knows that. I don’t expect him to do that. But he helped in way like I got to see his thought process when he’s on the field. I think big huge difference to me and him is he loves to simplify the game and he plays fast. He taught me how to simplify the game.”

Jets and Wilson hope for a better outing than last season and rejuvenate a franchise that’s been at the bottom for some time now.
