‘Awkward’ is the word that came to every viewer’s mind when a recent video of football player Patrick Mahomes’ went viral. In the short clip taken during the American Century Championship, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was seen refusing a young boy an autograph. A section of the social media community did not appreciate his denial. However, few, like De’Vondre Campbell, have taken Mahomes’ side in the ordeal.

Mahomes is a frequent attendee at the celebrity golf tournament. Last year he and his teammate wide receiver Travis Kelce made headlines. This time around notable names such as NBA star Stephen Curry was part of it. Naturally, a lot of fans gathered in order to click photos and gather some sort of memorabilia in order to remember the event.

Keeping that in mind the father of a young fan asked on his son’s behalf for an autograph from Patrick Mahomes. “Mr. Mahomes, will you sign my jersey when you’re done?” The boy’s father pleaded, but the Super Bowl winner turned him down. “I can’t sign for everyone.”

Even after the refusal, he insisted Mahomes could make at least one fan happy. But the Pro Bowler stuck to his words and, after a few swings, left the area to throw some hoops at the 17th hole.

The two-time Super Bowl winner was left with little choice but to refuse because of the instructions given by the organizing committee. “They told me I couldn’t do it anymore; I was taking too long,” FOX News reported on the matter.

However, Mahomes might not have been ready for what followed next. Someone had filmed the moment and shared it on social media, which left many shocked. They are not accustomed to this kind of odd behavior from a father of two. Several criticized the Chiefs signal caller for the incident. But support came from an unlikely source.

Green Bay Packers linebacker De’Vondre Campbell was one of the first to side with his football colleague. He wrote on Twitter, “Stop feeling entitled. We don’t owe you an autograph just because you asked for it.”

Kirk Cousins is often the center of criticism among fans and analysts alike because of his shortcomings and failure to deliver when it matters most. But he does have the backing of the current best quarterback in the league.

In a recent interview regarding the NFL Netflix series ‘Quarterback, Patrick Mahomes was asked who, according to him, is the most underrated quarterback in the league. He instantly pointed his finger at his on-screen colleague, Cousins.

“I think this guy (Kirk Cousins) is right here,” Mahomes said. “If you look at Kirk, he wins every year. Puts up great stats. in Washington, Minnesota. Talk to any other quarterback, and they’re going to say the same.”

Undoubtedly, the 34-year-old Cousins has been among the top since he became a regular in 2015. In his eight seasons as the starting center, he ranks third with 34,110 passing yards. He also recorded the fourth-highest number of touchdowns (234) in the NFL during that time.

Despite all the individual prowess, Cousins has little to show for in the trophy cabinet. In his long NFL career, he has won 10 games in a regular season just twice, both for the Minnesota Vikings.
