Dick Vitale is a highly experienced NFL commentator who’s been in the business for many years now. However, even the best make a mistake, and Vitale committed a comical blunder that saw him get roasted on the Internet momentarily.
No games were being played on Thursday for the first time this season. However, someone must have forgotten to send the memo to Vitale who thought that the much-awaited playoff decider game between the Packers and Lions was telecasted live on Amazon Prime as part of their Sunday Night Football criteria.
Amazon Prime football didn’t want to leave the void open, as there were no games on Thursday. Therefore, they decided to show the re-run of the week 9 matchup between the Packers and the Lions that saw the latter clinch victory.
Vitale thought that the re-run was a live telecast and even tweeted about it, which has since then been deleted. “In important @NFL matchup @Lions lead @packers 15-6 early in the 4th quarter,” Vitale said in a since-deleted tweet. “@AaronRodgers12 has thrown interceptions in the red zone.The Lions D has been super .”
The NFL commentator later realized that he had committed a massive blunder and even tweeted about it. However, the damage was already done as swathes of people on social media ridiculed the veteran for his lack of football know-how.
“I was absolutely fooled / hysterical – I thought Lions – Packers game was played tonight / give me a turnover baby !,” Vitale stated in another tweet.

Vitale was excited about the game just like everyone else, as it was one of the biggest games of the weekend. The winner in the Packers-Lions matchup will go on to take the playoffs spot.
Therefore, it’s not Vitale’s fault that he got carried away as there were many who appreciated him owning up to his mistakes and loved him either way.
