‘Disappointed’: Cleveland rape crisis center unsatisfied with Sue. L. Robinson’s ruling on Deshaun Watson
Deshaun Watson
ESPN received a statement by the Cleveland rape crisis center over the ruling of Deshaun Watson. They were clearly disappointed with the result of the hearing as reported by Jake Trotter on twitter.
They think that celebrities and famous people get off easy when they commit crimes. On the other hand, if a common man had done the same he would be behind bars for a long time. This sends an important message to our community.
The rape crisis center also pointed out that Deshaun Watson’s case shows us the flaws in our criminal justice system. The 6 game suspension was lenient and should have been stricter.
“He just got away with it”: Twitter reacts over the controversy
People on Twitter had mixed feelings about the decision and were vocal about it. Some thought that the decision was accurate and Watson didn’t commit a crime others thought the punishment was minor and more should have been done.
The Cleveland Rape Crisis has received around 1700 donations since the arrival of Deshaun Watson to the Cleveland Browns. They are also urging all the females who have been sexually assaulted to come forward and let them know, so the accused can be charged.
The people still believe in the justice system but if celebrities and famous people will be let off easily for important crimes or sexual misconduct, Then it will have gruesome effects on the victims of this crime and they will be scared to come out.
