Derek Carr has been ousted from the Raiders organization in the past season and since then the QB is looking for a new place to call home. Carr is a talented QB with many teams interested in him.
However, as he is set to become a free agent in 2023, there might be limited opportunities for teams to trade for him. Surprisingly, the Jets seem a lot of interested in signing the Raiders QB who made the Pro Bowl this year.
The Jets are in the market for a new QB and are looking to move on from Zach Wilson after a string of disappointing performances from the youngster. Even the Jets CB DJ Reed has got himself into the action and is looking forward to accommodating Carr in New York.
Recently, the two players got involved in a Twitter banter and there was even some conversation about their respective jersey numbers. Anchor Peter Schwartz recently took to Twitter to share his plight regarding Carr’s jersey number if he joins the Jets.
“If Derek Carr signs with the Jets, he can’t wear 4 because DJ Reed has it. So hopefully he gets 14 so that would make my Sam Darnold jersey an easy fix!” Schwartz stated on Twitter.
DJ Reed was quick to reply to Schwartz and gave hope to all the Jets fans who want to see the Raiders QB in New York. “We can always negotiate??”.
The Jets are looking at Derek Carr and Aaron Rodgers as their two main options
Both Derek Carr and Aaron Rodgers are on the verge of leaving their team and joining another one next season. The Jets are in the market for a new QB and have decided to show interest in these two QBs.
Both of those players can be significant improvements from Zach Wilson who struggled to find any form last season. However, the Packers QB can provide mentorship to the young Jets QB if they are looking for a future with him.
However, if they want to completely replace Wilson, then Carr will be a better option. The former Raiders QB has shown his worth time and time again and was even one of the best QBs in his conference a couple of seasons ago.
The Jets are in a precarious position and will have to utilize their budget cap effectively to accommodate either Rodgers or Carr.
