Byron Jones once shocked the football world with his freakish athletic abilities during the 2015 NFL Combine which eventually led him to get selected in the first round of the Draft the same year. And now, after a 7-year career in the league, the Dolphins DB drops a bomb about the league’s medical staff and warns players to consult outside doctors to learn long-term effects.

The 6’1” cornerback set the record for broad jump in NFL Combine by becoming the first player to jump over 12 feet with a 12’3″ jump eight years ago. Furthermore, Bryon Jones also impressed the scouts with a 44.5-inch vertical. The former UConn cornerback left the scouts in awe with his impressive outing during the combine which led to him getting drafted in the first round by the Dallas Cowboys.

Jones spent 5 years in Dallas where he registered two interceptions and went to one Pro Bowl. And then, when Jones hit the free agency in 2020, the Miami Dolphins snagged the defensive back and signed him to a 5-year $82.5 million contract. In Miami, Jones registered 2 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles in his first two first seasons.

However, the former Pro Bowl cornerback was sidelined during the entire 2022 season due to Achilles and ankle injuries. And now, Jones has spoken out publicly for the first time since he underwent the leg surgery.

Byron Jones took to social media to call out the league’s medical staff and warned players to not take the pills and injections provided by them. Furthermore, he advised players to consult outside doctors.

“Much has changed in 8 years. Today I can’t run or jump because of my injuries sustained playing this game. DO NOT take the pills they give you. DO NOT take the injections they give you. If you absolutely must, consult an outside doctor to learn the long-term implications,” tweeted Byron Jones on Saturday.

Furthermore, he went on to claim his ‘privileged’ professional career came at a regrettable cost that he did not expect. “It was an honor and privilege to play in the NFL but it came at a regrettable cost I did not foresee. In my opinion, no amount of professional success or financial gain is worth avoidable chronic pain and disabilities. Godspeed to the draft class of 2023,” tweeted Jones.

In addition, the Dolphins’ DB is not the only player who has called out the league’s medical staff. Just a few days ago, the New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas also spoke out against the “uneducated” and “cheap” medical staff of the NFL.
