Vic Fangio and the Miami Dolphins mutually parted ways after just one season. And it appears Jevon Holland welcomed the news.
The Dolphins’ season ended during the wild card against the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite the impressive start of winning 10 out of 13, they lost the last 2 games to drop out of the #1 seed and set up a tie against the AFC West champions in the first round of the postseason.

Miami went to the snow-covered Arrowhead and gave up 26 points while scoring only 7. As a result, Fangio came under a lot of scrutiny from Dolphins fans. It seems even the players weren’t too happy with the 65-year-old either.
After the Dolphins announced Fangio’s departure, Holland shared a cryptic tweet. The tweet had a video file attached. The clip showed Holland kicking a rock in the streets. Presumably at his locality.
More tweets from other Miami players, like cornerback Cam Smith, fueled the fire. A short while later, Holland’s clip went viral, and Smith shared a lone emoji post on X.
Even Holland’s father chimed in with a message of his own. He used a clever ‘I-phone’ analogy to address the situation.
What’s next for Vic Fangio?
The Miami Dolphins hired Vic Fangio before the start of the 2023 NFL season to administer some discipline to the otherwise leaky defense. Under his tutelage, they were the second-best team in sacks during the majority of the regular season.

Adding Jalen Ramsey was one of the best decisions by the Dolphins. But they ran out of steam at the business end of the season. Hence they falter against the Chiefs, prolonging the search for another AFC title.
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel told the Miami Herald:
I want to thank Vic [Fangio] for his contributions in 2023. When we assessed the season, it became apparent that this was the best path forward for all parties involved.Mike McDaniel said
Fangio is best known for his stint with the Chicago Bears. He was the architect of the Bears’ defense, leading the league in scoring, rushing yards allowed, first downs allowed, and interceptions. It helped the Chigao win the divisional title with a 12-4 record.
Last year, ESPN reported that Fangio would take over the defensive coordinator role at the Philadelphia Eagles after Jonathan Gannon left for Arizona. But the Eagles appointed Sean Desai, who was replaced by Matt Patricia midway through the season.
The Eagles are in the same boat as the Dolphins in terms of defensive frailty in the postseason. While Fangio never confirmed or denied that he would move to Philadelphia, for now, that’s the most likely scenario.
