The clash between the Tennessee Titans and the Miami Dolphins on Monday proved to be electric. No one expected that a feeble Titans side carrying a record of 4-8 would beat the Dolphins who had an unprecedented winning run since November 5. The Dolphins had an unbeaten streak of three games. However, their winning horse suffered a halt in week 14.
It was a bizarre game that ended in a defeat for the Dolphins. No analysts expected that the SB contenders would lose the game after leading three out of four quarters. The Titans were trailing by 14 points with three minutes remaining in the clock.
However, they made the impossible thing happen with Will Levis providing his best for his side. Since 1976, no team has ever won a single game after trailing by 14 points with three minutes to go until this Monday.
Will Levis, the rookie QB had a clutch game as he connected with WR DeAndre Hopkins with 2:40 minutes to go. The two-point conversion was successful, and the defense stepped up for the next drive. The move led the Dolphins to go three-and-out, and the Titans took the lead within 26 seconds.
The Dolphins had a 99.7% winning chance. But the clutch performance of Levis turned the table upside down. The performance in the dying moments of the game once again proved the worth of the words, “Football is a game of uncertainties.”
After the game, the Dolphins head coach, Mike McDaniel, opened up about the loss. He considered the loss as a hard, hard lesson on how things can change in the National Football League. The loss against the Titans surely humbled them and marked as a reminder.
I think you have to because it's a humbling game, and you think that you're a good football team, but then each and every week you have to prove that on the field and you can't take anything for granted.
Mike McDaniel wants to move on from the week 14 defeat
The Dolphins have some crucial fixtures awaiting in the next weeks. They will face the likes of the Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, and the New York Jets. Apart from the Jets, everyone seems to be a tough nut to crack. McDaniel knows it more than anyone.
Considering this, the HC said that the team has to move on from the loss and needs to focus on the schedule. Via NBC Sports, the HC added,
Right now it feels terrible, but that's everything that we'll be trying to do moving forward because these types of losses can be very galvanizing, but it takes literally every person in the locker room and coaching staff, and you have to — as long as guys aren't pointing fingers, which I feel like there's a lot of people looking internally, you have that chance, and that's what we'll be spending our time doing.
Apart from the Monday night loss, McDaniel will be concerned with Tyreek Hill‘s injury as well. They missed the service of Cheetah throughout the game. It is to be seen whether the injury has some vital role to play.
