In some shocking turn of events, the Miami Dolphins lost against their rivals Buffalo Bills by a huge margin of 48-20. It was shocking as the Dolphins-led by Tua Tagovailoa had a perfect start to their 2023-24 NFL campaign. They won their first three games and Tagovailoa, along with Tyreek Hill, were in their best form. However, the team suffered a major setback at the hands of the Bills as they lost and the margin was quite high. The match raised some questions about the defense as they allowed four touchdowns to the Bills in their five possessions.

Tua Tagovailoa, after the poor defeat, faced the media and acknowledged their poor performance on the field. He said that the team has been humbled, and it was a ‘necessary’ result.

“These guys weren’t going to care what we did last week,” the Dolphins signal caller said. “This is the league, and this is how it works. It’s very good, because I would say it’s also very humbling for a lot of people to be able to have the highest high and then you lose in a manner like this, it’s very humbling. For some, it’s much needed.”

Of course, Tua had every reason to utter these words. The Dolphins were probably too confident to win the game after they devastated the Denver Broncos with a victory of 70-20. They had the opportunity to break the record of the highest scoring in a single game however; they did not opt for it.

In the game against the Bills, the defense looked shaky. The defensive coordinator Vic Fangio failed to create a plan that would stop the Buffalo Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen. Both Allen and Stefon Diggs punished the Miami defense and the cornerback Kader Kohou had no answer to their combined attack. It was a case of a misunderstanding between the DC Fangio and the players.

Dolphins Mike McDaniel acknowledged the defeat

The head coach, Mike McDaniel, acknowledged the defeat after the game. While addressing the press, he took responsibility for the poor gameplay. He said, “The National Football League is a very humbling game. We’ll all look in the mirror. I would be lying if I was pumped about anything from our team today,” the coach said.

Hindsight, it seems like obviously when you get beat by 28 points, yeah you could argue the opposite of what you did across the board would be a better answer,” he further added.

Mike McDaniel had to clarify a lot of things since the match against the Broncos. He answered why the team did not go to earn record points. Now he openly acknowledged that the Bills schooled them.
